I Lack Nothing

Daniel 4:30-32

In this story Nebuchadnezzar askes Daniel to interpret his dream for him and Daniel is not very reluctant to do so because the dream interpretation was not a good one for Nebuchadnezzar. This brother said one thing and his whole kingdom came crashing down, he said, “is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?” and at that all his authority was taken away and he was to go live with the wild animals and eat grass with them until he acknowledged “that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on Earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.” First off, isn’t that affirming, that God can give a something to anyone he wishes to and doesn’t always have to be someone who was born into wealth or status. I don’t know that just makes me excited, but other than that I want us to see the true importance of this story. This story really gave me some perspective on my own life and that was that I cannot think for one second that what I have is because of me because, truthfully, I didn’t deserve any of it. The fact that I have this hope in Christ should be enough for me and I heard it said "the question shouldn't be why there's only one way, it should be why is there any way at all". If we are not careful, thinking like Nebuchadnezzar could become a reality, and God could take his hand away from your life and at one point I didn’t know what was wrong with my life and why I felt like I was going nowhere and unconfident about myself, until I read this and realized wow I had really put my faith in myself, and this could look so different for so many people. Putting your worth in things that are not God, lead to similar results. Even though we may hear it so often we need to give God the glory, I’m here to tell you, no really, give God the glory because he cannot trust us with more if we are out here thinking it’s us that did it. This needs to be our lifestyle and another way that doesn’t give God glory is not including him in our plans and in every area of our lives.

I encourage you all to read Daniel 4:1-36 because you can see how the king turns from his ways and then praises the Lord and is actually becomes glad for what the Lord did and ends by saying this “those who walk in pride he Is able to humble”

It really is such an amazing feeling to see where you have done wrong or sinned against the Lord and for the Lord to humble you and restore you to a place that is even better than you were before and in those times I feel God’s love for me abundantly because it shows his redemptive power, and the fact that we can have a right standing relationship with Him because of Jesus is even more amazing.

"For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21

"The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:1-4

Prayer

Dear God, I pray that you make me aware that none of this life that I cling onto comes from myself. I know that your love is sufficient and your grace as well. I acknowledge that I lack nothing, so please don’t let me fall into the temptation of thinking that you are not enough and think I have to take it into my own hands. Please don’t let me think that where I am, I am because of myself, but because you allowed me to be there. Lord I give you all of my life and hold nothing back. I want to be used by you, so enter into every aspect of my life in Jesus name, amen.
