Try
Here’s a song that was on my mind this morning and it’s called “Try” by Jonathan McReynolds. When I started this I wanted to keep my life out of the equation, but I feel that sharing my experiences gives people freedom and I can’t be fake. I can’t put up a persona that I am someone that I am not because that is tiring and if I do that I will inevitable stop doing what I am doing, so I want to keep it straight and say that I have had the worst time spiritually these last couple of weeks. Because of the death that happened in my family, I lost the motivation to write and use my gifts for God’s glory and kingdom. I didn’t want to minister to anyone because I felt so empty myself. Everyday I was like ok today I will start again and then I kept thinking “but then I have to not stop once I start so I’ll start later”. The fear of failure started to consume me as well. Then when I heard this song I thought why not write about what this song means to me and how it encouraged me to get back on my feet and hopefully if you are in a rut like I was, then I pray that your perspective changes as well.
The songs lyrics are:
I don’t want the sinner’s destiny
I don’t want to miss what’s best for me
So I’m gonna take what’s left of me. Swallow Pride.
At least I….I gotta make a sincere effort to be all that you called me to be, God
I just don’t want to stay here
Living beneath
I owe it to me to at least Try.
SO I’m gonna try…. alittle harder this time
I am so thankful for this song because I know that it is the enemies plan to keep want to keep me silent because when God’s people are silent others don’t get healing, but I am so glad to say he didn’t win this one and although it was a long time coming, the Lord is still going to use me. If there is somewhere I want to get to or somewhere that God has called me to I do "owe it to me to at least try", it doesn't matter how rugged it is or how insufficient I feel and I think that a lot of people get caught up on thinking about what it is going to look like and how God will possibly get you there and fail to realize that he already has everything handled, all He is asking from you is to trust him and to be faithful to what he says. God can do an abundance of work in your life if you just had faith as small as a mustard seed (Matt. 17:20) and when in the word it also says “faith without works is dead (James 2:26)”. Therefore, if you want something to happen it requires action. And the thing is you don’t have to have it all together to try. You can try with the little you have and that is just enough for God. If God wants you to do something, start with whatever you have and don’t expect perfection in a day. God says “whoever is faithful with very little things will be faithful with much... (Luke 16:10 )”. I don’t believe in grinding, I believe in seeking God first because He days apart from Him there is no good thing (Psalm 16:2). You can produce something, but it is produced in vain without Him. Personally whenever I tried to accomplish something or even do something for the Lord I ended up failing because there came a point where I couldn’t do it all in my own strength and I noticed as I decided to get really into reading my bible, that the things that I thought were so unbelievable difficult, then became easier to accomplish.
I truly would not be able to do what I am doing without first being filled by God’s word. Not every one struggles with getting stuff done like I, but just any sin that you just can't seem to get a grip on or a longing that seems to be unable to be fulfilled, all comes to a solution when you seek God's face and and that is not a maybe it's a promise! When hard things happen in life it is easy to lose trust in God and not want to get close to Him, but just as a reminder, God is not a God that wants you to fail, He is rooting for you and wants you to live a life that is fulfilling, but because sin entered the world, we face hard obstacles in life. However, God promises that everything that the enemy meant for evil He will turn to good. And your broken chains become the same tool used to break other people’s chains. There is no pain too big that God won’t use for His glory. He wants to be our comforter, healer, and redeemer in times of trials so even when it’s foggy and the situation looks as if it has no end, trust in Him because he has a good plan for your life. Let me repeat that if you didn’t get it the first time, TRUST IN HIM.
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight.” Proverbs 3:5
“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good, to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20
